Feather, Fur, Fish, Friends, & Fun Program:
Pets do make a difference for Residents at Crestview. Crestview has an array of pets that live on premises. Large fish tanks found in each of our main entrances are a natural attraction for everyone. At least one bird lives in every unit lounge. Our animals help reduce loneliness for the Residents and have been consistently found to benefit Residents' lives. According to a recent study, two schools of medicine found that as little as 30 minutes per week spent with an animal greatly improves quality of life. One of the most valuable findings is visiting with animals aided in the Residents sharing personal memories of their pets. These recollections contributed to increasing the Residents social interactions. Crestview's Feather, Fur, Fish, & Friends make a world of difference!! HOW? Providing unconditional love, reducing social withdrawal for those with mild confusion, increasing verbal interactions between the Residents and our Care Staff, reliving fond childhood memories of their own pets, aides in a more positive adjustment to a new and different environment, and Residents look forward to visits from their new found furry friends! Our pets are on premises at all times. Housekeeping & Maintenance teams keep our environment healthy for everyone & everything!
C.H.A.T.S. Program:
Children Helping Adults To Smile is an intergenerational program designed to enhance and to enrich the lives of our Residents. In 2004, through ideas gained from an Ohio Health Care Association Workshop/Conference, Crestview formed a committee dedicated to create positive changes, thus increasing the quality of life for our Residents. The Fun Committee is what we first called our committee. After two years, that committee succeeded in developing new programs, such as: Welcome Wagon, Popcorn Machines & a Speaker's Bureau. However, our core purpose is the "intergenerational" component! In July of 2006, we refocused and renamed our committee C.H.A.T.S. reflecting the true intent and the main objective of increasing the presence of children in the daily lives of our Residents! Fairfield Christian Academy, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Hug A Bear Day Care within Faith Memorial Church, E.L.I.-West After School Program, Girl Scout Troop #2486 & #2488/Brownie Troop #335, Green Elementary School & Faith Academy are just a few of our active C.H.A.T.S. community members. C.H.A.T.S. is very successful because we already have program times allotted within our monthly activity calendar to accommodate your activity.
